Pas a Pas

PASaPAS is an action research project that promotes the self-regeneration of Les Planes, with the aim of improving its urban metabolism. To recover the cooperative values and associative fabric that distinguish the neighbourhood, it incentivises a proactive attitude of empowerment and citizen participation, using a three-pronged approach. Firstly, it offers training in energy rehabilitation to reincorporate unemployed residents into the world of work. Secondly, it promotes the local activity of workshops and small family businesses. Finally, it works with tools that incentivise knowledge exchange between the university and the community.

To this end, a project is implemented to improve dwellings and their energy efficiency in Les Planes, in the framework of the energy rehabilitation of communities (REC), which addresses the problem of fuel poverty.

Initially, a visual survey of local homes was carried out to establish an order of intervention. Once the most at-risk cases were detected, a more exhaustive study was conducted according to physical, energy, social, medical and economic aspects (RELS methodology), and temperature, damp and air-quality sensors were installed to study the behaviour of the dwelling.

Next, according to energy, economic and material criteria, the various proposals were drawn up. The interventions, developed by unemployed local residents on employment plans, centre on energy rehabilitation and improving the habitability of dwellings by means of small actions: insulation, solar gain, airtight windows and ventilation control systems.

The design and management team is made up of agents from various fields and disciplines. The action research group associated with the university is responsible for promoting the project, with the Council providing the necessary resources to ensure its viability.
