Ideas, strategies and projects that give rise to pilot projects. They tackle the challenges raised by the stakeholders involved and which are found in particular places in Barcelona or Medellín.
Approaches is made up of the 15 Catalan architects shortlisted in the second Arquia/Próxima prize 2010, promoted by the Fundación Caja de Arquitectos. From 2011 to 2013 they organized a series of lectures accompanied by a travelling exhibition that includes the selected works in the video Referentes / estrategia / expectativas [References / strategy / expectations].
The collective’s second phase started in mid-2013 with the launch of the magazine Aproximacions, a compilation of reflections and ideas about how to intervene in the built environment, landscape and public space. The four issues published to date—Cons, Des-pavimentar, Trans and Ocupación—propose a theme or question that each team addresses individually, producing multiple personal responses to a shared concern.
The format and content of the magazine are not so much an academic proposal as an explosion, with the emphasis on the freshness of its projections and reflections, often using resources that are more characteristic of other disciplines, such as the visual arts and poetry.
